Court costs (RPV and court registry fee)
Estimate the procedural indemnity, the court registry fee and the contribution to the Legal Aid Fund.
Procedural indemnity (RPV)
The procedural indemnity (RPV) is the amount that the party who loses a court case must repay to the winning party to compensate for their lawyer's costs. It is a fixed amount according to a statutory scale, depending on the value of the claim, and therefore not the same as what your lawyer actually costs you. The judge determines the final amount between the statutory minimum and maximum.

Estimate: not legal advice
Please note: this is only an indication. The procedural indemnity (rechtsplegingsvergoeding) is indexed, so amounts may change. The judge ultimately decides which amount applies within the minimum and maximum. This tool uses the amounts in force since 1 March 2025. Check the current official amounts.
Registry fee and Fund contribution (civil cases)
Estimated registry fee and contribution
- Registry fee (rolrecht)
- €50.00
- Contribution to the Fund for second-line legal aid
- €26.00
- Total
- €76.00
The registry fee is not paid up front: the court decides in its final judgment who bears it, as a rule the losing party, after which the FPS Finance sends a request for payment. It is also due on re-entry after removal from the roll. The contribution to the Fund is advanced by the claimant on registration and settled by the court together with the costs. Both come on top of the procedural indemnity.
Estimate: not legal advice
Please note: this is an indication only and not legal advice. The amounts can change: the contribution to the Fund for second-line legal aid is indexed and the registry fee can be amended by statute. This tool uses the registry fee in force since February 1, 2019 and the contribution in force since March 3, 2025. Exemptions exist that are not all included here. Check the current official amounts.
